New York, New York

My son Joshua qualified in late March as a finalist in the Inaugural Tournament of the Dimension U National Scholarship Finals in New York City. He was really excited that he won $100 but we were equally excited for him that he would have the opportunity to travel to New York and compete for a $10,000 scholarship.

He went to New York with his Dad via Amtrak, which was a fun experience in and of itself. Friday afternoon was spent checking out Rockefeller Center.

The competition was Saturday morning. Joshua placed 5th in his preliminary round and by so doing made it into to semi-finals. During the semi-finals he was in 1st place at the beginning then fell to tying for third. His finished in forth place which disqualified him for the final round, but we were very proud of him. He placed in the top 1/4 of the participants of the tournament. - Go Joshua!

Saturday afternoon was spent eating New York pizza and checking out the Natural History Museum. It was great Father/Son weekend and one that I am sure will not be forgotten.

Now Joshua can't wait to try his luck at winning prizes in the summer tournament.

I've had trouble recently making comments on the blog, but it looks like I've got them worked out. Thanks for sending the pictures and little movie clip along for the NY trip. We are very proud of Joshua and what he accomplished. The trip looked great, too. Here's hoping he can continue to have fun with the Dimension U. stuff.
