Karaoke Sing Along

Just thought I would share a few photos from our Christmas morning. We missed our family, just as we do every year but hope that you had a wonderful Christmas.

Christmas Nativity

Our little Mary and Joseph.

After two days stuck in the house due to our unusual Dec. snowstorm we were thrilled to have an invitation to a friends home for treats and a little Christmas Nativity. It was a lot of fun to have all the kids together so that the different parts could be acted out. They did a great job. It reminded me of a Christmas when my brothers and sisters were little and we did a similar thing. I don't think I will ever forget my Mom trying to be a shepherd or my "descent" back to heaven as an angel. Fun Christmas memories stick with you forever. We got to let the kids unwind, the adults got to socialize and everyone had fun being together and frosting cookies. Living far from family has really helped us to appreciate the church and the opportunity we have had to spend time with friends and learn to love and appreciate so many different people. May your Christmas be merry and may all the best things in life come your way.

( I wouldn't want to mess with this guy.)
Samuel spent most of the time in love with their Dog. He was trying to talk to it about eating its' food.
He should take his own advice.

No Nap

There must be something about when my kids hit 2 1/2. They seem to think that nap time is for the birds. Joshua started even earlier. Kjirsten stopped napping between 2 1/2 and 3 and now Samuel, my last hope. I thought for sure he would never give it up. He sleeps like a log and has been known to nap for 2-3 hrs. So I am holding out that maybe this is a phase he is going through and we will soon return to the happy land of afternoon naps.

In the meantime after and hour in his room. This is how I found him. No pants on, no diaper on, and his favorite blanket thrown out of his bed. Of course his was giving me that look like "whats the problem mom? "

Oh well, gotta love him. He is full of energy, talks a ton, entertains everyone everywhere he goes. It is a cute age and I will enjoy it. If I survive it.

Christmas Cake

I have a Christmas party to go to tonight and since I finished finals- Yahoo! I decided to make a cake for the party. I was really happy that my cake decorating skills didn't leave me over the past few months. If you were wondering- yes, I made the whole thing it is completely edible- flowers and all. It's funny though after all this cake decorating I don't really like cake much anymore. Maybe I should learn how to make ice cream?

Window Changes

I had new windows installed to the front of my house about a month ago. I love them. They are great and really updated the front of the house, but what I have had the most fun with is updating and changing my window treatments. When we moved in everything was cheap aluminium mini-blinds. We changed a few out earlier for some shades but with the new windows everything had to come down.

This was my chance to get what I really wanted. While strolling through target a few weeks ago I came across a whole end cap of roman shades marked down 75% off. They were perfect. Mostly a nice cream color. I selected jute shades for 5 windows downstairs and thermal cloth shades for 5 windows upstairs. All of this only cost me $95! Yeah! My patient husband has been helping me get them all installed. We have practically no window sills, so the shades all had to mounted to the outside but with cute curtain panels it works great.

I picked up these curtain panels that I am in love with at Ikea. I had to hem them a little but the iron in hem strips made it a snap. They go from the ceiling to the floor and really add a great feature to the room. Now I am just saving up for my new couch.
