Somebody is 1

Is this for me?

We had a relaxing time after the beach celebrating Samuel's first Birthday. He eyed his cake only slightly cautiously before jumping in. He had a fun birthday. Of course Jonathan was feeling for him as Kjirsten and Joshua clamored to be right in the middle of the action while he was opening presents. Our home movies are probably a lot of me saying, "Joshua, move out of the way of the camera!" and telling them both that the new toys were for Samuel. We had some trouble getting many pictures of him opening gifts as apparently he already wants consumer electronics instead of toys (typical male). We couldn't keep him away from the camera.

Yum!

What could this be?

Never mind- I just want the camera.

Beach Fun

Samuel having a ball-who needs more than sand and a shovel?

It was time once again for our new King family annual trip to the beach. I didn't know I was raising such water lovers! We had the perfect day at the beach it was around 80, nice breeze, and plenty of sun. It was a wonderful time for all. Samuel surprised us with how much he loved getting right in the sand with the kids. It was a great way for him to celebrate, too--not just a way to please Kjirsten. She lived in the surf. Even when a wave would come crashing around her, she would just laugh and say how much fun it was. Maybe we can direct her towards a career as part of the next women's Olympic beach volleyball team--only if they change the uniform.
The best part is that the kids can play, and we can watch and relax. I don't think we will be able to wait for our trip again next year. Maybe we will have to extend longer than a day.

Help, Mom! I've been buried.

Garden Update

I love watching my garden keep growing. I am excited to see what will happen with some of my perrenial plants next year. I am the most amazed that the giant zinnias I started from seed are now over Joshua's head. The have made fun cutting flowers all summer and they bloom and bloom. I can't wait the try more next year. I think the best thing I have learned baout gardening is how it is constantly changing and how I learn something new each season. It has been much more fun than I suspected.

Somebody likes blueberries

We went blueberry picking as a family a couple of times over the last several weeks. We already knew how much Joshua and Kjirsten like blueberries, but I don't think that we were prepared for how much Samuel likes them. If he can see a blueberry, he thinks somebody should be giving it to him to eat. The whole family was getting a kick out of Samuel's enjoyment this morning, so we took a short video clip of him chowing down.
