Memorial weekend everyone says is the first weekend of summer. So we decided to start our summer of fun day trips with a trip to Washington DC on Saturday. The kids were very young the last time we were on the Mall. The thoroughly enjoyed riding the metro into downtown and we let everyone pick an activity. Joshua wanted to walk down to the Lincoln Memorial, I wanted to see some of the exhibits in the newly remodeled American History Museum and Kjirsten got to see the airplanes and the White House. We had a great day despite some warm weather and tired feet. I also felt like it was a great way to celebrate the Memorial Holiday as we reflected on all those who have served this country.
Samuel was up at 5:30 that morning so a few hours later was very tuckered out as we walked around the museums. I was surprised he slept at all with all the people.
